Whitney Rae Peters is a senior public relations major, leadership minor from Madison (Boone County), West Virginia. As a WVU student, she has been actively involved in the Student Government Association, serving two terms on the Board of Governors, one of which she served as Vice Chair. Currently the SGA Communications Director, Whitney Rae has also served on the Ethics Committee, the 2008 Transition Team, PR Team Liaison, Constitutional Review Committee, Mountainlair Advisory Board, Parent’s Club Liaison for Fall Family Weekend, and Hall of Fame/Outstanding Achievement Award Committee. She has worked on Dining Services issues, Random Acts of Kindness Week, Rec Center issues, and promoting the Mountaineer Creed.
Whitney Rae has also served as the Vice President of Standards in her sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma and is actively involved in the Mountaineer Maniacs and the Gold and Blue Student Ambassadors. She has been a member of the WVU Honors College, the Public Relations Student Society of America, and the Mountaineer Week Committee. Whitney Rae volunteers on the WVUH Green Team and organizes Scott High School College Day. In December 2008, Whitney Rae was appointed to the West Virginia State Youth Advisory Council for the United States Public Service Academy.
Whitney Rae is a recipient of the WVU Berry Scholarship, Boone County Alumni and Friends Scholarship, and Loyalty Permanent Endowment Fund Scholarship. In 2007, Whitney Rae was named in the first class recipients of the Milan Puskar Leadership Scholarship through the Eberly College and the WVU Leadership Studies minor.
In her spare time, Whitney Rae likes to play tennis, go fishing, and read. She works at Boone Memorial Hospital in Madison during the summer and winter breaks and would one day like to be a hospital administrator. She is the daughter of Ray and Debbie Peters of Madison and resides on the Mileground with her brother Zach and their Boxer dog, Miley.
If elected as SGA Vice President, Whitney Rae plans to primarily work with the Students of the Creative Arts Center, create an SGA Greening Initiative, and continue to listen to students across campus. She will also work very with her running mate, Jason Zuccari, on their joint platforms.
