Myself, Vice President Zuccari, Vice President of Student Affairs Ken Gray, President of the Alumni Association Steve Douglas, and Executive Director of International and Global Relations Tom Sloane arrived in Tokyo on July 16, around 3:30pm. After securing our luggage, we hopped a bus for a two hour ride to our hotel. Our first night was filled with firsts for most of us. We went to a restaurant that was famous for serving eel, and could hardly understand any of the menu! We all took a bit of a risk in ordering our food, and were definitely surprised by the outcome. Along with the eel, I received some tempura vegetables, soup, and a very gooey green substance that I was told was some form of desert. For me personally, food is always an excellent way to test a culture, and this food passed the test. It was very very different than the Japanese food I am used to from the states, but very tasty in its own manner. After eating, most of us needed some rest because of jet lag from our 15 hours of traveling.
Until next time!
