Community Engagement
The Community Engagement Committee strives to foster a great relationship between West Virginia University Students and the greater Morgantown Community through many mediums such as legislative efforts and community based events.

The Inclusion Committee serves to facilitate an inclusive atmosphere at WVU by celebrating students of diverse backgrounds and promoting a culture of respect through legislative efforts. This committee is composed of assembly members, executive members, and interns that have a passion for promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. We focus on LGBTQ+ affairs, BIPOC affairs, accessibility services, veterans’ affairs, and international student affairs. Additionally, the committee works to maintain a positive collaborative relationship with the WVU Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, the WVU Office of Accessibility Services and other entities on campus.

Be comprised of assembly members, campus student advocates,and other SGA members, having passion for promoting awareness surrounding mental health and enriching experiences on campus to create better mental health experiences. Promote a positive working relationship with the Carruth Center, WELLWVU, WVU Student Health, Healthy Minds University, and the WVU CARE Team. The committee will create campaigns and informational graphics that help spread awareness about mental health as well as perform all other related duties as shall be determined by the President and Vice President.

The Sexual Assault Prevention Committee is comprised of assembly members, campus student advocates, and other SGA members of whom share a passion for promoting awareness surrounding sexual assault prevention. The committee keeps a positive working relationship with administration and appropriate entities. This year the committee hopes to create events and informational graphics to increase awareness and enhance education around sexual assault. Some of the primary objectives of the committee include, but are not limited to; working with student organizations to get Title IX trained, increasing educational modules, distributing cup coverings and contraceptives, and hosting an open student forum to facilitate a conversation between students and administrators.

The Student Experience Committee advocates for the betterment of each student’s experience by working to promote and improve campus resources and co-curricular activities. The committee handles a wide variety of issues such as academics, college affordability, campus accessibility, dining services, pedestrian safety, and any other issues pertaining to the quality-of-life for students at WVU. In order to serve the students to the best of our ability, we cooperate with a variety of WVU administrative offices, including the Division of Student Life, the Office of the Provost, WVU Strategic Initiatives, WVU Dining Services, WVU Facilities Management, etc.
Given that our committee is centered around you, the students of WVU, we invite you to join us at our weekly meetings every Monday at 6:30pm. Or, feel free to reach out anytime to discuss any issues relating to the student experience at WVU that you may have. We would be glad to assist you!

The WVU SGA Sustainability Committee is a dedicated group of students committed to environmental stewardship, sustainable innovation, and green practices on campus. This committee seeks to initiate conversations about how we as Mountaineers can forward the Go First philosophy in terms of sustainable living, and we strive to implement real improvements towards our campus footprint.
The Sustainability Committee recognizes the impacts of climate change, resource disparities, and uncertainties affect the whole Mountaineer community. Our mission is to minimize that impact and build a lasting framework to answer these challenges as they become more and more prevalent. Additionally, we work to heighten the student experience by providing sustainable amenities and options that go naturally with our wild and wonderful campus.

The Governing Documents Review Committee is a committee consisting of 7 voting members that evaluates and proposes revisions to any of SGA's governing documents. The President Pro Tempore is a de facto voting member and the President is an ex-officio, non-voting member. As stated in the bylaws, the Attorney General is committee chair. The rest of the committee's membership consists of qualified individuals within the Assembly and executive staff who share a passion for strengthening SGA's institutional integrity. Through its leadership and membership, this committee draws from multiple perspectives to come to a consensus on various amendments and reforms.

The Government Relations Committee serves to increase engagement between the student body at West Virginia University and local, state, and federal government entities. The committee does this by advocating for policy issues that impact the student body, meeting and cooperating with public officials, and gauging the opinions of the student body.
