President

As the Student Government Association (SGA) President, the incumbent is entrusted with a multifaceted role that encompasses various responsibilities. Serving as the primary liaison between the student body and West Virginia University's institutional entities, including faculty, staff, administrators, and the University Board of Governors, the President advocates for student interests and concerns.

Additionally, they assume the pivotal role of the Student Representative on the University Board of Governors, wielding influence in decision-making processes at the highest levels. With the authority to shape the SGA's operational framework, the President appoints executive cabinet members and has the prerogative to establish or dissolve positions, departments, and committees within the executive branch to facilitate effective governance. Moreover, they oversee the enactment of SGA legislation, either signing or vetoing proposed measures within a specified timeframe, while also devising and executing policies and programs that align with the SGA's objectives and student needs. Collaborating closely with the Vice President, the President is responsible for presenting comprehensive goals and issues statements to university leadership, providing regular updates on progress, and ensuring transparency by disseminating pertinent information to the student body and relevant stakeholders. Additionally, their commitment to accountability is demonstrated through regular attendance and reporting at Student Assembly meetings, where they address current and ongoing issues pertaining to student administration.
