Student Assembly

The Student Assembly holds the highest legislative authority within the West Virginia University Student Government Association (SGA), comprising twelve Senators and additional College Senators determined through a proportional representation model.

These members are elected annually during the campus-wide SGA election. The number of College Senators is directly correlated with the enrollment data of respective colleges, with each college represented by one Senator and additional Senators allocated based on increments of 1,000 students enrolled. The Elections Chair determines the number of College Senators before the fall semester's conclusion, utilizing verified enrollment data from the prior fall semester for the spring election. Notably, the "Health Sciences" College Senator position encompasses various schools within the health sciences domain. The Student Assembly's composition reflects diverse academic colleges, ensuring broad representation, with Senators elected in the spring election.
