Elections Chair

The Elections Chair holds a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and smooth operation of the electoral process within the Student Government Association (SGA), operating within the framework of the West Virginia University Elections Code.

Following each election, they diligently present the results to the SGA Judicial Court, ensuring transparency and adherence to established procedures. The Elections Chair maintains regular communication with the SGA President and Vice President, providing monthly reports on election-related activities. Their commitment to the electoral process is further demonstrated by their consistent attendance at SGA meetings on a weekly basis.

Moreover, the Elections Chair plays a proactive role in fostering candidate engagement and awareness by organizing candidate information sessions and disseminating relevant information in accordance with the SGA Election Code. Collaborating with the SGA communications team, they promote voting and ensure the student body is well-informed about election deadlines and procedures. Upholding impartiality, the Elections Chair treats all candidates equally throughout the electoral process, maintaining fairness and integrity. Additionally, they ensure that all candidates are aware of deadlines at every stage of the campaign process, adhering to a 72-hour notice period. Furthermore, the Elections Chair, who must be a full-time student with prior experience in university elections, determines the number of College Senator positions for each spring election as specified in the association's regulations. Lastly, they undertake any other duties as designated by the President and Vice President, contributing to the effective functioning and credibility of the SGA electoral process.
