Local Governance Liaison

The Local Governance Liaison plays a crucial role within the Student Government Association (SGA), serving as a direct representative and liaison between the SGA and the City of Morgantown as well as the Monongalia County Commission.

As a member of the Community Engagement Committee and the Outreach Department, they provide valuable resources and knowledge to SGA members regarding city activities and issues. Their responsibilities include attending monthly Morgantown City Council meetings, as well as events related to city and county issues, to stay informed and engaged. Regular reporting to the SGA on city-related events and issues fosters cooperation and ensures alignment with student interests. Additionally, the Liaison facilitates events focused on registering WVU students to vote, promoting civic engagement. Committed to their role, they attend weekly SGA meetings and undertake any other duties as directed by the President and Vice President, contributing to effective local governance and advocacy efforts on behalf of WVU students.
